NAFPOC launches nationally and introduces the National Hair Health Equity Initiative™
The National Alopecia Foundation for People of Color (NAFPOC) today announced its national launch and the introduction of the National Hair Health Equity Initiative™, a coordinated effort to advance education, research, advocacy, community outreach, early awareness and professional collaboration around hair loss.
More than 80 million Americans experience hair loss. Many still encounter misinformation, delayed recognition, emotional distress and limited access to reliable education. Those gaps fall hardest on communities that research and clinical training have historically overlooked, including conditions such as central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia and traction alopecia.
NAFPOC was founded to change that. The foundation serves individuals and families of every race and ethnicity, while maintaining a specific commitment to reducing disparities affecting underserved communities.
“Education is often the first treatment,” said Dr. Leola Anifowoshe-Brown, PhD, Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “When people understand what is happening, they seek appropriate care sooner, make informed decisions, and find hope.”
